Cru'Dads 3 Year Gold Coin Slump - ENDS TODAY!!!

Firstly as Cru'Dad is not a member please save any wasted banner votes as they don't count.

Our plan for the day was simple finish off the edges of a couple of Roman Sites. We guessed it may take an hour or two per site & we would hit 3 sites. Well the first site took 3 hours 30 minutes & the second took 2 hours, with 30 minutes on a neighbouring field. (6 hours total)
Dad started well with a 1st C AD Hod Hill Fibula & was in the lead with the Roman Coin count (end result was 10 to Dad 17 to me:laughing7: )
However, after close to 3 years with no gold coins Dad finally hit this lovely Qrter Gold Stater of Tasciovanus (20BC), see full details on link:
UK Finds Database - - - UKDFD
The story is this; after yesterday when I only got 1 button, I said 30 minutes into the hunt that it would be hard to get one today, you guessed it the next dig was a button. So I said, what I meant was 'it will be hard to get a Celtic Gold today', as a joke because we had no chance. After another 30 minutes or so, Dad flipped an inch & a half of soil over & said in such a way 'I don't believe it' that I shout 'you got a Celtic Gold, haven't you?' I got the camera out but the pictures never came out well, sorry!

27 Roman Bronze Coins
2 Roman Fibula
Part of a Roman Buckle Plate
Roman Ring

A cracking end to the weekend:wav:

Hello,
I'm new to site and to hunting.
Fabulous finds you've got there!
I found my first coin that I cannot ID.
It looks like some of the ones you have found.
I'd love to scratch of all the debris and patina ... I won't"
My question is, do I leave it alone or soak it in something, if so what?
Also, I believe it's silver. It does not collect to a magnet and I must have nicked it when digging ... I see silver in one tiny tiny spot.
I'm sure you very excited about your finds today so, if and when you have a minute, will you please share your thoughts on this topic?
I haven't gotten around to laying out all the nails and such to photograph. I'll get to that soon enough.
CONGRATS to you and your team!
Regards,
Diane

Amazing coin. Might not be on the banner, but I think I'd like to make it my computer background (with your permission of course)

Very nice quarter stater Cru Dad....proberbly worth around the £1000 mark, I take it you will give the farmer his 50% share. Nice find.

I need a picture to give advice. The gold needs no cleaning other than water & the bronzes were just washed with soapy warm water.

Glad its not a £1000 for that very reason:laughing9: Books (2010) at about £200-£250.
