17 or 1800's? HANDMADE SOLID SILVER SALT SPOON*TOKENS

Saturday got out with Gary to a few cellar holes.It was his day as he found quite a bit of colonial goodies.
my take was a few buttons one being an elephant sportsmans button & a nice iron horse stir-up .
Sunday I went solo to a site I located .the cellar hole got bulldozed i think but all the myrtle & pacasandra is there so that's where i focused.a button,2 tokens.pontiac & a madame hendron doll token,both 1920's i believe.Then i got the tiniest silver spoon i ever seen in my life.no hallmark but it's silver.looks fairly old.I think it's an owl? or a cat? never dug a bird band before so tiny! and the tiniest bell i ever dug.it was a tiny day i guess
the sterling earing i found on the bank near road and saw this river mill spillway gate and snapped a pic.
Anyone have any ideas on the age of this spoon? hand tooled but with no markings it has me stumped

With no hallmark it is probably American Coin Silver. I would wager that it is from 1850 or earlier. Possibly even colonial. I have an awesome site for silver ID. 925-1000.com those guys are amazing. You may have a gem.

That spoon is just absolutely amazing,Im almost positive it would be worth more as a relic than if sold for silver content. Id look into it and keep it around for a while.Just my two cents though,Its yours and i support whatever decision you make whenever it comes to selling it.Thanks for sharing this,Made my day!!

The spoon is awsome I have found two coin silver spoons but both of mine are plain jane and chewed up. Yours looks like it is made to resemble the now extinct Big-nose Owl

That spoon is a really unique find ! I've never seen an owl with nostrils or a cat with bird like feet What ever the heck it is, it is a great find

Looks like you got a SALT spoon there, and I would say it'd fetch a nice price on the auction block as "folk art." Clearly homemade and engraved. BEAUTIFUL find that is BANNER-worthy in my opinion. The token with the swastika dates to around 1915 give or take. Common reverse for tokens from whiskey tokens to boy scout tokens right around that time, give or take a few years. I imagine the swastika one is close to the size of a half dollar if it's the type I'm thinking of.

Congrats on that beautiful spoon! Engraved on the back or underside too?

I love old handwork like that.
watching for vegetation is important, I know a few sites that are only marked by those clues.
maybe the hole was filled, maybe not, lots of early homes had no cellar.
