My finds from the Clarke Co. farm

Here are my finds from Sunday, i went out with my cousin and my dad. It was his first time metal detecting so i was hoping that he would find something good to get him hooked. All he ended up finding were a few iron chain links and a nut. He said he would like to try it again and was not discouraged. I ended up finding a WW2 Large overcoat button, a 4 hole Barnhart button, a brass piece that i'm not sure about, it pokes out in the center and has a broken soldered piece on the back. What looks like a lead poker chip that was tacoed when i dug it but carefully flattened it back out. My best find was a nice two piece button with a doted design on the front still with some gold gilt left on it. It reads "R & W * Robinson * Extra Rich". I think its 1840's. Thinks for looking and HH!

I didn't know that, its a really nice quality button. Most two piece buttons are about to fall apart, but this one is still in really good shape. Thanks.

Didn't find the quantity OR the quality of stuff we were hoping, but we still found a little. Like the gold gilt left on that button.

These are awesome! I was able to get out and hunt a little in Clarke Co. on Sunday too. All I came away with was bottle caps though.

I just found an exact Barnhart button such as yours today at an old homestead. I can't find anything on it either. I typed in Barnhart Button in the search and brought me to this post. Yours is in a little nicer shape than mine. Maybe with a little more cleaning it could be just as nice. Wish I could get an idea of a date these were made though. I also found a wheatie and a trashed large cent (I think) it's large and copper. Ah well. The second large cent that I've found that has nothing left on it to verify that is what it is.
