Yesterday's hunt

Got out with my good buddy Dan yesterday, and we hit one old site and 3 new ones. We spent most of the day at a very promising field in a historic area. We just knew we would stumble across an early colonial homesite or 2 in this huge field. Never found what we were looking for, but did make a few finds in one remote corner of the field. Overall my finds were rather paltry seeing how we hunted for a full 8 hours, but at least I came home with a few keepers. I guess my best finds were three 1860s coins, and that spur part was pretty cool too. And I dug several parts to an eagle coat button in one spot. I didn't see any fresh dings on it so I guess it was already in pieces before I opened up the hole. All-in-all it was a fun day with great weather, and I'm looking forward to getting into some more new spots soon with hopefully much older finds.

That center piece looks like a picture frame. Friend found one with the remains of a tin type in it, along with an ink bottle and pen nibs.

Paltry???? Bill, you are fortunate to live in area that can produce a wide variety of relics. Some 3 ringers and an eagle button makes for an outstanding hunt in my neck of the woods. Your finds are cool.
