Possibly minted on the wrong planchet? Interesting .. According to the Red Book, a lincoln cent stamped onto a nickel planchet is not possible. The most common are cents struck on dime planchets, nickels on cents, or quarters on dimes. Definately get it looked at anyways.

It may be a jewelry piece, could be plated and looks like it may have the remains of a bezel around it. Some closer pictures would help.
