The date is about right but its not really classed as a 'Spectacle' Buckle as they are 'rounded' ends. Great find though!

Good book, I have it as well, 'double loop' I would have said, but if its in that chapter it must be right. Clearly my memory is not so great.

Good find as Cru says a double looped buckle, Trapezodial type that actually do date back to Medieval times, although yours is 1600's plus, and would have proberbly been of Miltary use..good one
