Got 11 early 1800's/1700's buttons, small buckle and pocket knife before the snow!!

I wanted to go out before the snow hit. I figured I would stay close to where I was parked and hit a section of woods where I found my 1749 KGII last year. It paid off in buttons. Found 11 total some appear to be colonial and some maybe later. Also found a nice small brass buckle and also found my first pocket knife ever. Not sure on the age of it though. Was hoping to strike on some old silver or some old coppers, but didn't find any. I figured there couldn't be that many buttons and really nothing else. I guess there could be. Either way, I'm sure I will hit that spot again on Sunday. Thanks for looking guys and HH!

Thanks buddy. Most were all up along what looked like an old road that may have existed then, but can't tell for sure. There were a few buttons scattered away from those though. I'm sure there's another coin lurking in there somewhere. Thanks for looking.

Almost a dozen flat buttons...you did great! Nice buckle too. Flat buttons are the next best thing for me if I'm not finding old coins.

Matt, with that many buttons you are either on or close to an old house site. I woud hunt that area hard.

I was thinking an old home site had to be near, Steve. Doesn't look like an area that was farmed or anything way too many hills.

Your F75 is going to short out with all those great signals Matt. More great finds and a nice buckle. HH, Q.

Nice little pile of buttons Matt. Looks like they date from the late 1700s to early 1800s for the most part. Should be some early silver in there as well. Dan and I were hoping to get back out tomorrow but the snow from today might keep us home.

At least it's gonna warm up for us a little this weekend, Bill. It was actually nice hunting today even with snow on the ground. Being in the woods at least the ground wasn't frozen. Just gotta deal with the roots. I plan on going to the same spot and gridding it out a little better and moving some dead limbs and such. Hope to squeak out a few more goodies. Good luck to you guys.

Thanks, Quindy. F75 was squeaking those buttons out perfectly among all the iron.

wow, great finds. what does the back of the button in the 2nd picture say? I see "solid" I think, but have never seen a backmark quite like that one.

I'm not sure and I have never dug one like it. Thought it was pretty cool. I could read solid as well and maybe the other word is gilt, can't make out the other one.
