When the ground is frozen, one must think out of the box.

So, I went back to that box of stuff I mentioned before. (Where I found the old bank?)

Unfortunately, there just wasn't much left in the box to go through and what was there just wasn't very interesting.

Except, these few things:

First, an old toy truck.

Too bad it wasn't as old as the rest of the stuff in the box. :dontknow:

This is a strange, solidly made, ring. No clue.

The best for last, still not worth much anything intrinsically. Yet, somehow, I am very pleased. ;)
For you see, this almost got tossed. I was moving the old, empty cardboard box to the recycle pile when I heard something rattle. Being a bit experienced at checking cardboard boxes, I took another look at the bottom flaps. Sure enough, there, sliding back and forth from one flap to another, was this V Nickel.

Maybe the bank did have some money after all. :)

Sure don't come outta the ground like that, now do they. ;)
It's also a key year. The first and the variation without the words five cents on it. (Which, if I read right, is the lesser of the two. :dontknow: )

But, ask me if I care. LOL

HH! (when the ground thaws! :) )

I think the nickels interesting because ive got a shield nickel of the same year. I guess maybe there were some leftover shields at the mint before switching to "V" nickels?

Love the dump, got one in the barn but no time to use it. Nice V. Keep that box open and dig deep.

Interesting finds for sure! That ring looks to have a bullet on top. Is that a maker's mark/stamp inside the ring? HH and congrats, Mike

It is a bullet/shell facsimile on the ring, I'm going to try to clean it up and test it today. Stay tuned.

Nice score with the V nickel ! It's probably worth $10 to $12 in it's current condition !

Ah well, cleaned up the ring, not silver (turned the solution black it's supposed to turn it red or brown. :) )

Also, no ID marks. Guess it was just a plain ole ring. :dontknow:
