1699 William III Halfpenny and 1749 George II Farthing

Hello T'Netters. Went back to a old favorite site yesterday. No more easy pickings but still goodies to be found if you work at it. Six hours of swinging the coil produced only a couple of non ferrous finds but they were worth the effort.

Found the 1749 George II farthing first. It cleaned up pretty well.

A couple of hours and many iron targets later I dug the 1699 William III Halfpenny. Did not know what I had until I cleaned it when I got home. Really pleased it gave up a date, and pretty thrilled with the "16" part of the date.

I think I would forget breathing for a minute if I had found coins that old. But I guess its not rare in your neck of the woods. Thanks for sharing!

That's a pair of nice early coppers! The King William III halfpence are tough to find with much that much detail left.

Those coins were not in circulation very long before someone droped them for you to find 314 years later. I bet 1699 will be a hard date to beat.
