I dug up 2 saw blades and what has to be an old water pump housing from a friend's yard. I am looking for a ring that was lost in his backyard but he lived close to some old RR tracks. I am digging up anything I find there, I'm a newbie still learning. So far, 2 nails, a channel rail, a bucket from a toy excavator, 2 beer cans, 1 piece of copper tube approx. 4" long, 2 saw blades, and the old water pump housing. Anyone have a clue what this pump would have fit? finds2 007 2.JPG finds2 004 1.JPG finds2 005 2.JPG

No clue on the pump. But welcome to the hobby. The more you dig the more you'll learn!

The only thing I can think of is a water pump. Also be careful around the tracks, the RR doesn't like to share with metal detectorists

I don't think so, I left the finds there at my friend's house. I'm going back in just a little bit, I'll check.
