🥇 BANNER RARE NEW BRUNSWICK SILVER, 1st hunt of season

First dig of the season, was quite nice at about 50 F.

Got a copper pretty quick, about an hour later I got a small silver, too much mud on it to know exactly what it was. Later in a mud puddle I discovered it to be a New Brunswick 10 cent silver. Not right up on the prices I did know it was a scarce coin, and I did notice it had a doubled "2" in the date "1862 BTW"

So, when home I look it up, a lot better than I thought.

Probably my best first day. Even the crotal bell is a first with the makers initials...S. I. or I. S. anyone ?

Hi Rick, congratulations on your banner find!

Just a thought to make your find even rarer, I have a few NB silvers in my collection and I've noticed they have rotated dies(which is an error variety all on its own) examine yours , it just might have that going for it as well!
Take a look and let me know if yours falls into that category as well.

I can't see from the pic but it is an I, and not a T?

Good link but don't you mean its an I not a J? However, I's were used as J's. Your link does give a possible option but I can't see any '*' in each petal:

Joseph Shipman, born 1779, died 1859. (7) He started to make sleigh bells after James North, Jr., and he completed a metal-casting apprenticeship in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. In the spring of 1800, both men worked together making sleigh bells, then in 1801 they formed separate foundries in New Britain, Connecticut. (18) Shipman's foundry operated from about 1801 to ?. (6) Bells marked with an I S are thought to be older than J S bells'

Yes definitely an "I", and believe my original ID correct.

That is a good link and I did find with a design as pictured on the far right.

No die rotation, but a bit of a die crack at the O in Victoria.

Looks like the coin that is described in second column. 1862, double punched 2 in my opinion. So if I am right, $1200.

Great find !!
Your coin (at 150k minted--all kinds for that date) is much rarer that the US 1916 -D dime (264k minted). And unless the values you show are wholesale, I'd give them another 10% or more bump today.
