First dig of the season, was quite nice at about 50 F.

Got a copper pretty quick, about an hour later I got a small silver, too much mud on it to know exactly what it was. Later in a mud puddle I discovered it to be a New Brunswick 10 cent silver. Not right up on the prices I did know it was a scarce coin, and I did notice it had a doubled "2" in the date "1862 BTW"

So, when home I look it up, a lot better than I thought.

Probably my best first day. Even the crotal bell is a first with the makers initials...S. I. or I. S. anyone ?

Wow, those are some solid finds! That dime is amazing, I would be thrilled with that one. How deep was it?

I am so jealous that you can hunt, we have an unreal amount of snow, and it looks like another 15 to 20 cm tonight...

Hey there Rick you scored a nice one!

I got a few NB silvers but not like yours, you got the nicer one! I like the patina on yours.

Everyone should start the year like you

That's awesome Rick! I'm hoping to get out today but I've got an inch of snow to contend with...yesterday was the day.

I had a great time hunting with you yesterday Rick, you definitely got the find of the day. That little coin is a beauty and I would say Banner worthy due to it's condition and rarity.
You forgot to mention about your eyeball find... We stopped at Timmy's for a coffee before heading out and right a way Rick eyeballs a dime on the ground. It was a good way to kick start the day.
Anyway, banner vote going in.

Got some info on the bell

Got a little info on the bell maker,
it is "IS" and is either John Stares 1743-1746 or John Seller 1733-1760

Best 'Canadian' silver I've seen posted in a long time, and quite a bonus getting a higher grade and the double punched 2, not to mention the coin being so nicely toned. Since I've been a member here this is the first Canadian silver coin I've seen posted that *should* easily make the banner.
