Devil Dogs Of The Air and other stuff
Hello all. got some time in today and got a cool novelty item. I dug this kids adjustable ring, the front says Devil Dogs and it has the head of a bull dog, the sides are winged and it is personalized with the letter E above the dog. After a quick search I found some info about.
Apparrently in 1935 James Cagney was starring in a new (propaganda) war movie called Devil Dogs Of The Air.(Flying Marines) Quaker Oats who had been putting items in their containers forever teamed up with the studio and promoted the movie by either putting these in the box or making available through mail as a promo. I'll tell you that the ring is pretty heavy and well made for a toy and .. well I couldn't resist making it SHINY! Also included are todays coins beat and battered but silver ! Oh and the ring is a 1935 promo and the Walker is a 1935 too! Enjoy and thanks for looking. HH
