Old Park Hunt (Gold) updated

Went out today to hit the Old Park again today. I was with a new detecting buddy. He just got his first detector yesterday and I was giving him some tips. He was following me around so when I got a good tone I wanted him to hear what to listen for in a good tone. The area we were hunting was a area that several good detectorist have gone over the past few weeks including me. I got a low tone that was very iffy. I thought it might be a pull-tab or a nickel. I decided to dig it and am I glad I did. It turned out to be a 32nd Degree Mason Pendant from I believe is from about 1880's. This is known by the owners name which is engraved inside. My buddy heard me calling out saying I found gold. He just chuckled and thought I was joking at first till he looked at my face. He came over and could not believe it's condition. I am still shaking over it. Happy Hunting.

CAMB1 The pictures don't quite capture the feeling of watching you pull that target out of the hole! Job well done, I look forward to more outings with you.

Well hello new detecting buddy. Hope I did not ruin you on your first hunt with me. I hate doing that to people, but it sometime happens to me. You can find the next one. lol

Great find. I believe it was a vinegrette, carried sometimes as a watch fob. The victorian era and before were not known for their olfactory sweetness and people carried these devices, soaked in perfume, to help lessen the impact of the odors assailing them as they went about their daily lives.

I'm thinking this should maybe be a banner find. Very, very unique and has an ID. Awesome!

Great Nephew just came to my house and bought it from me for 5 Franklin Bills. Yahoo

That is an amazing find! Gold is nice, but the history of this thing has makes it priceless!

I think it is awesome of you to sell it to the relative of the former owner. I can only imagine if someone called me with a find like this of significant genealogical value, I would be forever grateful.

Keep up the great work! I'm off on Sunday's and Monday's let me know when your going out again!!
