5 GEORGE WASHINGTON INAUGURAL BUTTONS IN ONE DAY! BEST HUNT EVER!(updated pics)

I'm not even sure today was real :dontknow:
Todd picked me up & we went back down to the 1750's home he found his GW at 2 weeks ago.
after about an hour of swingin around the yard I decided to go in the area he dug his.about 5 feet away the tree line was and headed in that direction.got a nice signal dug down a large dandy button surfaced.it was plain.stood up swung and another signal.knelt down dug another dandy.flip it over i see the eagle :O'
stand up same thing.kneel down out pops another.repeat process another! 3 in a 6 inch radius! i was like no freakin way! I figured since they were sold in sets of 4 this was it.

swinging around yard about 100 feet in middle of yard another 58-60 VDI dig down 4 inches another dandy or cloak button.flip it over :love10: i'm like this is not possible :icon_scratch: 4 GW's in the yard plus todds made 5 from this yard.we spent the morning here and after lunch decided to go try a new cellar hole we researched.
get to the site was kinda slow going, alot of big iron, todd got a real cool relic and i decided to go on the opposite side of the cellar hole. workin that area i get a nice 60ish VDI at 5 inches.dig down out pops a nice silver washed large dandy.flip it over and no freakin way! i kneeled there in utter amazement! :o :o
i'm staring at my 5th 1789 George Washington inaugural button in one day :headbang:

I don't know what it was today? If ole George was lookin down on me or the stars were aligned just right? I'll never know. But,one thing i do know is my very 1st GW a few years ago was my most memorable hunt.this this is a tie with the 2nd best hunt alongside my 1793 chain cent.a day i will never forget!

Quite a day, quite an accomplishment! Now, I thought there were 5 per coat of the large buttons but the guy who seems to be knowledgeable on the GW buttons says: "It is probable that five of the large size buttons, in all but the Eagle and Star patterns, were worn on a coat, eight being the usual number of the Eagle and Star pattern"

That tells me Dave, since 6 have been found there, might be two more left.

I was thinking the same as Don, that there has to be a few more on that site!!!:dontknow:

I just saw this topic and was looking for the Banner Nomination link and couldn't find it, but now I see it already up on the banner.

A modern coat usually has no more than 5 button, so you now have a set to go a coat, I bet you'll be the only person on earth wearing a coat with genuine GW Inauguration buttons on it!!!!:laughing7:

Outstanding & incredible. Got to be a Banner.
I'd get back out there while you still got the GW mojo.
Thanks for posting.

Dave, you better be careful, if you have too many of these hunts you'll never forget you might not remember them all! 8-)

There's no rules to how many of what is in the ground, and I'd just dig that spot like crazy assuming there would always be one more!
