Headed back over to the Mill site again with the house cellar filled in..:icon_thumright:
Looking at the mill i noticed branches and trees piled up and it looked liked cut stone underneath:icon_scratch:
Upon moving them i was amazed to see the old wheel and stone:headbang::headbang:Perfectly cut i wish i could get a machine in there to take it home:laughing7: This Mill was Colonial and worked right up to the 20th century..Amazing

Grabbed a 1895 IH and another 1857 flying Eagle:icon_thumright:I never dig flying eagles and got 2 in the past week:dontknow:

Got the ever famous zippo lighter.Poor Paul..

A waffle type colonial button and other odds an ends..

Then back to the fields:icon_thumleft:I must say i like cellars much more than fields..

The usual smoked like cheech and Chong KG copper:unhappysmiley:

Grabbed a nice 2 piece button with a star and gold gilt:headbang:

A small Colonial shoe buckle frame and all the way on the other side a small Colonial chape..Looks like a match..

Some flatties a sterling ring and some IHeads..

Well congrats to the 2 New England Boys for the 5 GW'S and a 1652 Mass coin

Those are the kind of finds we dream of every time we leave the house to detect and its good to see them come true:headbang:

Have fun out there:hello:

I like that little flower type button JB!! I found my first 1857 FE cent this year in that 1864 U.S. Colored Troop Camp, then you found one, and ANOTHER-unbelievable. I'm beginning to think they are common now-LOL. You have had success like Dawg at those old mill sites. Great post, finds, & pics as usual. Keep it up & HH, Q.

Hey Johnny , the flying eagle cent is a favorite of mine , Quindy I remember you found two at CW camps , kool coins , great design on those first small coins .These nickel coppers replaced the beloved large cents and imho were easily lost vs. their big brothers . As you might say " My kind of " old mill site , some suck while others can be a gold mine . I was able to get a stone and a recent post on TN showed a few mill stones still on site . Those stones are worth a few bucks . I chose to keep the millstone I found because of it's local history .

Plenty of trading done at these mills , so it should give up some great stuff if you have the patience to seek out those areas . Glad to see your pics , looks like it has the potential for many hunts . Any water front property always had visitors for hundreds of years as you already know . Some were great for swimming holes , excellent place to search for lost stuff .

Best of luck ,

dawg

Nice recoveries JB. I believe you might find a nice early US silver or some Spanish at that site.

Nice finds, JB! The best find was the mill site itself, apparently left in its abandoned state.
