Headed back to the "cave" again today to do some more hunting where the construction work was taking place. Started out slow but then I got into a nice little area that produced some good finds:

The merc is pretty toasted as you can see and I can't make out the date. The ring is marked with what looks like "INDIA" inside of it. Tested positive for silver so that is good! After a while and more people arriving to hunt, I moved further up to the rocks where they were dumping (and still are) sand for the last few weeks. The beach shape is changing a bit now with the breakwaters offshore and the good rocky areas we usually hunt are being covered up but some other new ones may be in the process of being exposed. We'll see how it all looks in a few months....here are the finds from this area:

Found a Zippo lighter and a Case knife. The round thing with the spokes? Anyone have a clue on that? It is heavy duty aluminum, and has a hole running through it. Any thoughts? The small bronze/copper piece cleaned up nice to reveal a flower design on it. It looks like a piece of old jewlery (bracelet or watch band?) as it has a slight curve to it. If BREEZIE stops by maybe she will know what it is. Wish I could have found more of it! The pocket watch was a first for me. I got kind of excited when I saw it and the GOLD showing through the encrustations but realized quickly that real gold wouldn't do that and you could see through some of the broken metal and tell it was junk. Brought it back and tried to clean it up a bit and at least get makers info off it.....ha, ha...fat chance! Thing DISINTEGRATED in the sink while trying to clean it off some. That was also when I realized the front was plastic and not glass....yup....JUNK! Still a cool find. All in all a good day, was out for about 6 hours and feeling a bit tired now! Thanks for looking!
