Colonial Historical piece ???

Found at a colonial fort site, thanks To Jeff in PA for figuring out what it says and for the info on the piece. Says Wilkes And Liberty 45 http://www.history.org/foundation/jo...r03/wilkes.cfm Any other info on the piece would be greatly appreciated thanks coop.

It's from a wax seal.

It sort of looks like it may have been from a seal, but if so wouldn't the incuse markings be a mirror image of those words??

Cool piece coop,just getting back home & on here I see a lot has went on.That's a neat piece looks like it would go in a type like the one IP posted or the one in my hand you can see how it would mount.

Wow, great piece.

I did some research and I believe it is a token. There are a few varieties listed. One is brass with the 45 on the reverse mad this one is listed in a catalogue but I could not access it. Search Wilkes an liberty 45 tokens. Good luck!

Now that's one cool seal, with providence.

It's would be cool to see a wax impression once it's cleaned up a bit.

It's a banner worthy find anyday.
