Wow, what an awesome site. (And sight.) Love the pix of the old cellar hole and stone walls. And the artifacts... wow. Great stuff. I envy you folks up in Yankeeland sometimes. We do have some nice colonial sites here in my part of GA, but I think y'all had a lot more population density and so more potential sites, perhaps. Not to mention the Mint was closer. Down here we tend to get more Spanish silvers than early US coins. (When we get coins at all- they're sparse indeed on relic sites.)

How bad a problem are tree roots on these sites?

Thanks for posting that stuff. Great finds, great pictures. Makes me green with envy, and keen to go have a crack at some old house sites down here. (Here in the low country, there were no cellars, so no cellar holes. We have to look for surface clues like pottery or oyster shells.) Of course if I go to some of my relic sites now, I'll die of heatstroke, or exsanguination from ticks, mosquitoes, deer flies, and gnats, if I don't get nailed by a rattlesnake first! Winter's the time to hunt down here.

I gotta say you are 'The Best' at locating the good sites.
love the style of the 2s on that 1822, and they seemed to be using good copper during the late teens and early 20s.
The pewter is awesome. period fakes are favorites of mine. best was a lead Draped that weighed 18 grams, why???
best theory is that it would be included in a bag of coppers to be traded by weight.
Superb day of recoveries! Keep em coming !! Herbie.
