After all the comments I saw about the heel plate I thought I would post the one I found 2 weeks ago, the home was built in 1876. I was surprised to see it had the screws in it and a design or pattern on the one side and then a 1 1/2 on the other maybe the size? IMAG0389.jpg IMAG0390.jpg IMAG0422.jpg IMAG0423.jpg

That's an interesting one and the first I have seen with the nails still in it, pattern, and size. Please try measuring across the widest point (left-to-right) and see if it measures 1-1/2".

It measures 1-1/2", I found one last year that looks like yours and has no markings on it and that is also 1 1/2"
