My first gold in New England

After moving back up to New England, I've been bouncing around to different places looking for some more historical stuff. Found this ring this weekend about 100 feet from where I was fortunate enough to meet worldtalker today!

Is it real gold. Nice find either way

I didn't think so when I pulled it out, but later inspection shows that it has been resized. My bride was able to find the slight hint of a "k" marking, but we can't make out if it's 10 or 14. Also, this was 3 inches deep and caked with dirt and roots. It would have been in worse shape if it was costume.
