Foreign Coin Cache or Massive Spill

Went back to an area where I had found an early 1900s British Farthing and a silver Cuban quarter. Dug a faint signal and found another farthing at 8+ inches. I poked the pin pointer around in the hole and found there were more coins, deeper. Got another similar target right next to it and multiple coins there too. I ended up excavating a 3 foot by 5 foot area to about a foot or foot and a half of depth. Digging all signals. There were coins everywhere including 8 silvers. All foreign. It was 90+ degrees out in full sun. Nearly had a heat stroke but diggin all them coins sure was fun.

Found 50 coins in all. Here is a list. Silvers on top. The prices are rough and based on my Internet research. I have not had anything graded.

Probably some kid burying Dad's or Grandad's stolen foreign coin collection so that they would'nt get caught red-handed! Great haul though and some of which are decent collectible coins! Congrats, now wipe the sweat off! LOL!!

Exciting find !! Must of had your blood pumping! I had a similar experience about 10 years ago in back of a 1700's house here in Ct. I had a lower end machine at the time and I had found about 9 Chinese cash coins all in the same area. In rescanning the hole after the last coin I was still getting faint readings. I kept pulling out more dirt and widening the hole and finding more coins. I wound up digging an area about 4x4 feet and 8 inches deep before I was done. Total 79 Cash coins of various types ranging from the 1600's - early 1800's. I KNOW what you were feeling !!

If your in Florida may be a Cuban refugee stash from the 50's make sure you detect around the area for more caches/stashes. Great find!

Thanks everybody. I looked all around there. Dug every faint signal. Did find more after the first round. Seems like every faint signal was an old foreign coin. Eventually, I exhausted it. I have thoughts of cleaning the surface real well and going in with the surf PI. I was thinking there might be gold in the collection. If so, I figure it would be deep.

I will try to get some better pix soon.

I concur, based on your newest coin being a 1959, the year of the communist takeover of the Cuban government. Congrats on a very cool discovery! Sub
