Sweeet John you are like a hound dog when it comes too finding those buckles lately!!! Unfortunately for me it is been quite a-while since i pulled a good civil war buckle or plate up (besides a eagle breastplate) i actually dug a sny a few months ago in a fire pit that looked like homie the clown got a hold of it! don't even think a desperate tourist would think it was a cool find if they could tell what it was. I have been on hunts within the past 5 years where others have dug buckles/plates (a few in spots I took them), but i guess my real score was in 2001 with a rare breastplate i dug in orange !! i just seem locked in with eagle buttons and bullets lately. I am on a goal too find a ID tag!! a brotha can ask for that right?? I guess I can keep on dreaming :angel10:

I found this last year, still haven't got a positive, for sure ID on it. The closest match I could find is the Confederate North Carolina seal buckle but the bridge on mine is curved. If anyone knows Id love to know for sure what it is! It's definitely my best find to date.

Great finds guys! :icon_thumleft:

I'm jealous every time I see those plates.... I'm probably the only relic hunter who found an ID tag before a plate... But I'm not complaining about that! :)

Thanks everybody! I am hopefully going to a spot that has produced a belt plate and a box plate on Monday or Tuesday. There is a field that has just been plowed where I got 3 .58 caliber minies and a carved Maynard carbine bullet, also an 1847 large cent. The field hasn't been hunted much yet and I hope to find a plate.

Found this one in February 2013. The only one I've ever found.

Iukams,
You have a photo of it cleaned up?

No, I was afraid to clean it . I had someone make an offer I couldn't refuse, so I sold it about 2 months ago... :-(

Yea, I know those plates can fetch a good sum. Great find anyhow plus you will always have the memory of digging it, plus photos.
