The millions of pull tabs I have been digging looking for gold ever since I got my ETrac finally paid off!! Thanks for Josh for putting me on my first gold in a long time!

Josh (Mangum) and I had to meet in Charlotte to buy prizes for a club hunt so we went to hunt a small yard he had permission to hunt before the rains came.

The first signal on the first swing came up just like a pull tab. He checked it with his MXT Pro and said "Might be a nickel". Well, imagine my surprise when I flipped the plug and saw a gold signet staring up at me! He thought I was playing with him when I almost shouted "I got gold!". I had to say it again to get him to believe me. There was some adhesive left from tape wrapped around the bottom of the ring.

The ring appears to be hand cast and has a TRIANGLE and STAR (Can't get picture of it) hallmark stamped under the signet with no carat marking. Does anyone know this mark??

The next signal turned out to be a 1951 D Roosevelt dime. In the end we ended up with 3 wheaties and the gold and silver from his friends yard.

We went to the coin shop and bought all the goodies for our club hunt and went back to the place he found his NC button last week. It was a mess from logging and skidders running everywhere.

I found my last silver in a skidder track at 1" deep. A 1923 Mercury. Josh got a wheatie.

Thanks again Josh for putting me on my first gold in a long time!!

:notworthy: :occasion18: :icon_thumright: CONGRATS ON LOVELY GOLD! My only gold in my two years of detecting came last month in an iron-infested, boulder-strewn tiny beach -- a wonderful heavy custom-made gold ring which I still can't believe I dug, lol. I'd forced myself to go back once again to dig that "nasty little beach" once more because I figured the other detectorists had given up on it. My ring had been under there for decades! Definitely it's where we find it, NOT where we WANT to find it. :tongue3: :laughing7: Hope you never have such a lengthy gold drought in the future! Andi
