I found an unknown object while metal detecting behind a house built in 1920. The object is not metal...I just uncovered while trying to locate another metal object. The unknown object is not metal. It weighs less than 2 1/2 oz. It has eight sides and eight slanted sides. It is flat on top The unknown object is 2 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches. It is 1 inch high. It appears to 016.JPG be some type of marker.

I see a hole in the bottom of the object? maybe it was attached to the top of something?

More pictures and what you think it's made of would help with a possible ID.

The hole does not go all the way through....so it does not attach to to something.

Here are top and bottom pictures...I am not sure what it is made of ...it appears to be a rock that has been hand craved......but asside from that it looks like a trip to the local museum is needed. 007.JPG 008.JPG

I agree it appears to be the top piece of some type of post.
