(update- back from jeweler, emerald is real) Hello all, just posted this in the beach forum, want to share with all hunters!! I still cant believe it either!! Mr. Gary Drayton would be proud of this one...lol. Was at the water line at the 7am low tide this mourn, the first hour was gloomy with nothing but bottle caps and a few clad. Three hours later found a low spot with a quarter, fish sinker and this 22k (916) Emerald beauty!!! First thing I did was look up the mark 916, no freakin way, broke out the acid to make sure, tested 22k all day!!!
I cant say the emerald is real yet, will have it looked at, but it sure looks good!!! Thx for looking and HH!!!!

Very special find - if you can possibly get us a closer look at the hall marks inside -dating and place of origin may be possible .

From your username it looks like you may have served in the U.S.C.G and if the 59 is your birth year we may have
served at the same time . I served on icebreakers on the Great lakes in the later 70's .

Awesome, gorgeous, beautiful ring. No way that stone can be fake when the gold is 22k.

If it's real that's one helluvan emerald!! Something about the color doesn't strike me as being right for an emerald, though I hope I'm wrong. Great looking ring--congrats!!!

I think I'm in agreement with Erik on the color - (although the lighting/pics - may be throwing us off a bit ). In looking at other
translucent green gems , worthy of a 22K setting i'm seeing a ton of possibles including - demantoid garnet , green tourmaline
on and on it goes - perhaps we have a gemologist here who will kindly weigh in on this - Killer find whatever it is !

I say 100% emerald. Just not a great one. But quite impressive overall.
Most emeralds are opaque to translucent. Its the transparent-ish ones that are of high value.

And also how dark green they are amongst some other factors from what I recall.
