Got out this morning early and hunted a middle school that has never given up much . I thought I would give it one more try . After about an hour I started hunting along the sidelines of the soccer field . I got a +78 and next to it a +81 . Both targets were at one inch . The +78 was a clad dime , dark red in color as always . The 2nd target was also a dime , except it was very shiny and had a silver edge ! This is the crazy thing it's a 2006D Rosie ! The VDI says it's silver and the look of the edge is silver , I could find anything about a D mint mark being a silver proof . What is it :icon_scratch: . The other silver item I found was also a +81 and was a 925 silver ring , #95 ring for the year . Total clad for three hours was $10.34 :icon_thumright: .

great finds, but there is no way a Denver mintmark is silver. I wonder if perhaps you got a 'better than normal' return signal because of the near uncirculated condition of the coin. I know that when I find heavily worn coins the vdi will sometimes read lower than normal

I believe in 2008 dimes were made silver... But only in proof sets from the San Francisco mint. And not all were silver. Idk about this one!

Hi pl8man , thats a pretty dime looks possibly silver plated to me, some kid in chemistry class maybe did that. I recall some penny getting silver plated back in the day there. Nice gas rebate also =)

This dime makes me crazy ! If you look at the readed edge it looks silver through and though . No clad look to it at all , no copper line on the side . I think maybe it was silver plated . It was fun seeing in the plug !

It can't be silver from Denver. How does it sound and how much does it weigh?

That will be one hell of a find if they screwed up and made some silver ones! Let us know how it comes out when you solve the mystery!

I know it can't be silver from Denver . What I'm saying is it looks silver on the edge . Anyone who has dug silver dimes would think this is silver . It weighs 2.3 grams

I have seen quite a few dimes in the 2000's that have very little or no copper showing. I think it's just something weird in the manufacture of them. Even though they can't be silver I still like to weigh them and bounce them off my table. I didn't mean to imply that you didn't know it couldn't be silver with that Denver mint mark.

honestly the edge may not have the copper side to it but the edge does not look like a silver dime would. I coin roll hunt dimes all the time and every once in a while you will get a dime like this. There to shiny and almost chrome looking. Silver is more white and faded.
