39th silver for 2013: 1944 Mercury dime. Some early wheats (1914 1919 1920-D etc)and 40's and 50's...also the remnants of a steel wheat cent. A lead toy race car from the 20's or 30's the fuselage of a lead toy airplane also from likely the 30's, a charm and some marbles. These were from an early 20th century house's yard that I have been trying to hunt for about 2 months. Kinda thought there would be more there but it may have been hit before. Still...one more to go for 40 silver coins for 2013: maybe tomorrow!

I'm looking for my first dug silver so I think 24 is not too bad.

Yes , 90% of the time it's yes: kind of depends on the neighborhood too. Everything on my finds list is from a priivate yard except one silver dime I found near a sidewalk.

Sovereignelite , In many older neighborhoods (pre WWII) there are grassy strips with trees between the sidewalk and the curb (easements)
these have proven to be choice places for coins , jewelry , etc. - for those days when you might not feel like knocking .

Easements are city property , so unless there is a city ordinance against metal detecting , they are wide open !

Yes I used to do those a lot...but haven't recently. Today was a bust: one wheat penny on an empty lot...oh well that's the way it goes.:dontknow:
