I went to a favorite former dump site in a wooded area where I can generally pull out at least one interesting item per hunt.. About 30 minutes in to getting eaten alive by mosquitoes I found a little spot with several targets .. After pulling out a lawn-mower blade, mason jar lids and about 15 bottle caps I popped out this guy! It put a smile on my face instantly.. I immediately started to wonder how it got there.. Did a child lose it while playing? Was it just thrown in the trash? Mom stepped on it one too many times?..

A small amount of research tells me that it's a 1930's Wyandotte Mystery Plane.. Slightly rare, some ask over $100 for them on ebaY.. Mine doesn't have the nice paint job like some but it does have both propellers..

I found it yesterday evening but just had a chance to post it now.. I've had it on my desk all day and it makes me happy to look at it.. Key date coins, gold & silver.. This is my most rewarding find so far.:happy3:

It measure 4 3/4" wide X 4" long

Thanks for viewing :blackbeard:

I love finding items like that, prefer it more than beach hunting. Good job

That's really cool. Are you going to try to get the rust off & preserve it? It would be awesome if you repainted it.

I think it's probably best left the way it is.. I don't really have the desire to mess with it.. If anything, I would reduce some of the rust but a paint job probably won't happen.. I like rust :)

Nice find! I bet you looked at it on your desk, womdering where the child had played with it and where his imagination took him in it.
