Hi everyone, :hello:

Not much found but it was a fun hunt.... :hello2: My towns school had a sidewalk tear-out. I found 3 wheat's two nickels from the 50's and two from the 70's. A old child's ring that rang in as silver and looks silver, but its plated. :headbang:Anyway I had a fun hunt but did not find much... :dontknow: Here are some pictures for what its worth, hope you enjoy !! :notworthy:

Good work On the sidewalk hunt. Having fun is what its all about. Even when I have a trash digging kind of day i always try to tell myself it was great getting out and enjoying a nice day. You'll get the Good stuff next time. HH

you sure that ring is plated? looks like the band is marked sterling. it is probably solid, but just has some tarnishing

I thought I saw a small .925 close to the top on the inside of the band.... Nothing visible in the first picture above though... I tried to clean the gray "tarnish" off with some tooth paste but it did not come clean. I'm pretty sure its plated, but I'll get it tested to be sure. I got a pic of what I think is a .925 mark.... It is heavier than aluminum, its silver underneath. I filed it a little. IDK, its weird... Thank you !!

I was looking at the ring again, and *IT IS* marked Sterling !! :hello2:

I cleaned it up with electrolysis, the tarnish was very thick almost like another coating.... Toothpaste failed, and foil with baking soda and water failed... Electrolysis cleaned it up but left a little pitting its not perfect but its shinny again....
