As I've said in previous posts, I'm trying to clean up my property from sticker bushes, low palms, and trash.

I've passed the joys of metal detecting to my nephew and his son. Sunday they helped me a bit and found bottles, cans, gate handle, old bike reflector, etc.

We've done some preliminary investigation online about these finds. Interesting, but not exciting. Every hour spent is more experience and knowledge and less junk in my yard. Win-win.

Then you'd love it here. I have at least 3 spots that I've found so far and I'm not nearly done.

I believe that Bud can dates from the mid '60s and may be worth a couple of bucks.

Jewelerguy-yes, I agree the can is likely '63-70. The back is blown out, likely an scavenging animal chewed it open, so I'm not sure anyone would want to buy it. I'll just hold into it in my collection.

Salura,

The "Federal Law Forbids..." language on that whiskey, was mandated by the Feds between 1934 and 1964 on spirits bottles.

BOLO on dairy and soda bottles from that era.

I plan to. I hope I find something "worth writing home about" soon.

Nice. A lot of history around Micanopy. I used to work at the University of Florida about 20yrs ago. And they were finding dugout canoes in that marsh south of Gainesville. Is the cafe risque still there? a friend took me down there and that was an eye opening experience. lol. Also, I think I heard of a cache being buried in Micanopy once, I just can't remember details. I know I wanted to TH there.

Mr Rich-yes the cafe Risqué is still there. I work at UF too. I've been there 3 years. In 2011 they found the spot where ft defiance/ft Micanopy was located. A lady was landscaping and started turning up cannonballs and stuff. The spot is kind of an open secret, I could only find one newspaper article that listed the location.

The "L" shaped metal piece is a hinge to hang a gate upon. Threaded part goes into the post with the smooth part up or down depending on if it is the top or bottom and the hinge part attached to the gate slips over it. Sweet finds by the way...d2

Wow, thanks for the encouragement. Today I only found a zinc penny, 2 small Phillips head screws, and a pull tab before the Mosquitos drove me inside.

Back at it tomorrow.

Yesterday I found a zincoln, 2 Phillips head screws, and a pull tab before the Mosquitos drove me out at dusk.

I must be sweet. Nothing deters the Mosquitos. I've done 30% DEET Off, Skin so soft with their type of repellant, dryer sheets, eating tons of garlic, etc. I'm clearing out the brush off my land which will help get some air in there and make it less hospitable for Mosquitos. And as the weather gets cooler they will hibernate.
