I remember as a youth, 1968ish, my family vacationed in Rapid City, South Dakota and we had lunch in the Buffalo Bar.
I was just starting coin collecting and was amazed at the thousands of buffalo nickels that were under glass on the bars, tables, and on the walls. Lots of them were dateless but still cool.
It is still there.
"The famous Buffalo Bar in Deadwood, South Dakota, established in 1877. The old stamping grounds of William F. Cody known as "Buffalo Bill" after whom this bar was named. 2 1/2 miles of rope are used in the ceiling and on the walls are three large Buffalo made entirely of Buffalo nickels. All this creates an original Western atmosphere"
