Nice silver turtle ring. Legs and head move. Dropped it off at jeweler to have cleaned and straightened. But check this out . Thought it was just a foreign coin, but after taking it home and cleaning it , it turned out to be a 1828 coin.jpg turtle.jpg coin2.jpg Brazilian 80 reis coin. No Way ! From a school yard built in the 70's ?? Must have been show and tell day. By far the oldest coin for me

Nice one !!
The mint mark will be immed. to the right of the date.
If it's an "R", then the mint is Rio de J>

BTW, if the mint mark is other than "R", here is that info:
Bahia 1824-31, Sao Paulo (SP) 1825-29, Cuiaba 1826-30, Goias 1828-31 and Rio 1823-31.
Caution: Counterfeits are numerous, particularly of the Bahia issues, which were cruder than Rio issues.
