Stopped by a construction site near A.P. Hill military base this afternoon and hunted a dirt pile and found my first Ordnance button, have no clue what time frame this is.. post civil war - turn of the century perhaps? hard to make out the back-mark also... mansville? hage?

I'd like to know too. (But I'm not quite as upset about it as you...)

You know, I'm not even certain of what I see from your photo. Try a photo head on in good light with macro setting through a magnifying lens.

Looked through my resources for you, and I can tell you that IF it is an ordnance button, it is NOT American. Has to be post 1840s or so due to construction, but could be much later. I have no clue. Got no back mark to work from, and have checked Tice and Alberts for a design match and McGuinn and Bazelon for any matches on the backmark possibilities with no luck.

Thanks for the help BB... Here is a better photo, the 1st picture is of what is on the button. I don't know how far back these U.S Ordnance Corps buttons date with just the * on mine and the back-mark is confusing Pmansville - hage? or P?mansville
