Andrew, you will get a few comments about schools, parks, churches, and such in general terms. In reality a good place to hunt is getting tough to find. Most of the folks on here who consistently find good finds do tons of research and would not surrender their hot spots to their own brothers. Would love to help, and mean that sincerely, but your finding good spot is much more difficult than finding the coins and relics when you get there. Read, read, read on these posts and take advantage of the map resources etc available here. Your best bet for just lucking into a good spot is finding an old home and knocking for permission. Hope to see some good finds posted soon. and welcome to T'net.:icon_thumleft:

USE GOOGLE OR OTER SEARCH ENGINE - PUT IN HILTON NY - AND CELLAR HOLE(S)
LOOK UP OTHER TOWN NAMES NEIGHBORING YOURS TOO
PUT IN YOUR COUNTY AND TYPE IN OLD PARKS - SCHOOLS - BEACHES - SWIMMING HOLES
LIKE TNGUNS SAID - GREAT SPOT IS FREINDS AND RELATIVES WITH OLD YARDS
OR KNOCK ON DOORS AND ASK PERMISSION AT HISTORIC HOMES
TREE BELT AND GRASS COMMONS OR MEDIANS IN OLDER AREAS ARE GREAT
ASK PEOPLE AT WORK IF THEY HAVE AN OLD HOME YOU CAN HIT
ANY FARM FIELDS IN OLD AREAS OR NEAR OLD HOMES SHOULD BE GREAT
