This is the oldest coin i've found metal detecting. I found this while metal detecting at an old abandoned house on a non abandoned farm (i got permission of course) in El Paso TX. I also found a bunch of old glass marbles, which IMG_1675.JPG IMG_1676.JPG IMG_1677.JPG IMG_1678.JPG i will post later when i find them

Keep up the good work! My oldest went from 1935 to 1820 to the late 1700s in 4 hunts. If you put yourself in the right places the old stuff will come. Where do you live? Luckily I live in Maine in an area that had settlement in the 1600s

Nice Finds ! I've found a few of those in New Mexico - Santa Fe to be precise - I always enjoyed finding obsolete Mexican coins .If you're
in Las Cruces , you will probably find a few more of those !

Nice, my first oldest coin was a Centavo as well. I live in El Paso and grew up in Las Cruces. If you go hit the fields in Mesilla you will find Spanish coins! Don't forget the river marked the Camino Real and is loaded with Spanish artifacts. Keep Swinging!

foreign coins are always fun to find, although it's probably just a matter of time before those become standard currency here

Great find !
Though the coin has minimal monetary value, it is packed with historical value. The female image is that of Dona Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez who was an insurgent and supporter of the Mexican War of Independence, which fought for independence against Spain in the early 19th century.
The coin is composed of bronze; 6.5g and 25.5 mm; nearly 59M were minted.
Don.....
