Got out a day after I got the sweet 1872 Indian the other day and had to hit a couple of corn fields I was sick of driving by.
As soon as I started hitting iron I turned 90 degrees to start my first row and got my first Large Cent. I was super stoked for the rest of the hunt. I ended up getting only 2 other large cents at the site and I finally dug my first Delphos Oh, Civil War store Card. It is the only one I believe that has a reeded edge. I have a few in my collection but have never dug my hometown store card.
I jumped across the street to another site I have and I was literally digging shotgun shells every 5 feet. I ended up getting an indian laying on top of the ground. It turned out to be another 1872 Indian. This is typical of me finding the same thing in short order. I find something tough to find and then I find another on soon after. I can't explain it, but I'm not complaining. The coin is full liberty but the date has much more verdigris on it and it is difficult to see. I took it up to my coin dealer and he seen it right away.
He said that it was still a good coin in that condition and he wished it would have been better. So I pulled out the one I found the other day and his jaw dropped.
That puts me at 20 Large Cents for the year. Still need 12 more before Jan 1 to beat last year. My fingers are crossed.
