Hunted a strip of woods today for 3 hours...all big alders...nothing around it to indicate anything special would be found.

But I like to hunt in the woods.. always bare ground and the finds are usually good..but just not plentiful usually.

The Seated Dime rang in at 72 on my Fisher F75...Knew it was a coin ...thought it was a Canadian Fishscale Nickel when it popped outta the ground..the same size..very small.
Then I seen the Seated Liberty...pretty sure the squirrels could see me grinning...made my day !!

Dunno what the big copper is ..a token of some sort.

The other big copper is a 1814 RH-Richard Hurd... my 2nd one.

Indian head is 1899.

Nothing really special..i know.... but silvers have been rare for me last 3 months...so was thrilled to see one.

Are Seated Liberty half dimes scarce in Canada ?

Couldn't say but Canadian coins aren't rare in midwest Pennsylvania. Lol

Pretty good hunt esp. for "random in the woods." I like those random hunts though, sometimes you get surprised.

The half dime would not be a common find, by any stretch, a nice one for your collection.
I've not got a seated of any size, but did get a capped half dime last year.

4 coins in a smallish (?) area, maybe there was something going on there.

Can you see a date on the IH cent ? Those are not too common here either.

Well I think a seated half dime is a pretty good find, especially for Canada. I have found a capped bust half dime, but never a seated one.

No...can,t see the date....that's the date associated with the coin when you look it up.....in poor shape.

The strip of woods is really not too random...there is a old house next door that's been fixed up..... the lower woods used to be farmland.... I,ve found coins in also.
The upper side where I was has an old orchard in it...not visible from the road as its grown up.....with a old foundation next door in small field that's barely visible...grown up with grass etc.

So used to be some activity there long time ago I guess. Only 1 coin around the old foundation......non legible. Everything else was in the woods...maybe because no one ever looked in the woods I,m thinking.

Nice finds ! Any time you're pulling up silver is a good day! You mentioned orchard, that sounds promising. That seated half may have many "friends". HH!
