Haven't posted in a few weeks because relics were few and far between. I told Tnet that I was waiting for some crops to come off, and they're off. First time ever on this field and I'm very happy and looking forward to the next trip. Forgot my glasses and thought the dime was dated 1861. It was, in fact 1901. You see what you wanna see, huh? But the good news was, without same glasses, I thought one of the cuff buttons was a New York. Turned out to be my first Massachusetts Volunteer Militia.

Don't you love turning over a clump of dirt and seeing this??

What are those 3 double ended cuff link like thingies? Rivets?

You hit it on the nose. Rivets. Often found with leather still attached. The two big ones were found side-by-side and were holding together such a thick piece of leather, that it was probably a cartridge box (Harness maybe). Some people don't care about rivets and other insignificant "incidentals." I like them because unlike a bullet that a guy handled just once for 20 seconds . . . those rivets were on a piece of equipment that might have been to Shiloh, Gettysburg, Cold Harbor . . . who KNOWS what those rivets have seen!
