If indeed it is hollow inside you may have found a very old pottery kiln. If it is, that style is called a groundhog kiln. If it is then the pottery shop and waster dump would have been within 15-20 feet one way or the other from it.

The father down from the top you go, there is more dirt covering the mound, and digging in to the side at 5 feet from the top it looks like the walls are stone without cement, once you get by the dirt.

There's at least one piece of rail sticking horizontally out of the pile, which looks to be some kind of roof support.
