1780's homesite and civil war battlefield finds!
I have been hunting 2 spots in mw spare time the last 2 weeks...here are the better finds. They include 179? large cent (my oldest find so far)
, an 1888 indian, 1889 seated dime, 1911 v-nickel, #267 cattle tag?, a silver medallion reading "given for Merit from yhe institution for the deaf and dumb and the blind...May 31st 1853..... Also pictured are some civil war items found including several bullets, an eagle coat button, a union eagle breast plate
, a camp knife with spoon and two other unidentified items, one is copper the other silver plated
? Any ideas? This is only about half of the iron items dug inluding axe heads, an early hoe head, several horse and mule bits, horse shoes, etc... One of these sites was a homeplace dating to around 1780 that was used as a Union camp during the war. The other is a farm field adjoing a local battle field....Also not pictured are 3 tokens, a 25 cents general store token and two mercantile tokens 5 cents and 1 dollar. Thanks for looking
