Thats great. Congrats. Last tag I found was a 1936 with the name sammie. With the dog still attached. Felt weird taking it so I left it with him. Rip sammie.

Thanks! That's a cool story. My tag didn't have a name but its still sort of cool.

Yours has pretty good age, some people cant seem to break the 60s. I have found 7 over the years, oldest 1918 newest 1958. Youll find lots more.

I found 4 old dogs tags before, but I would be very happy if I could find ones as old as you have.

Hey metaldetecta, I have found about five license from mans best friend and the oldest is dated 1923. So this got me wondering what
state was first to require dogs to be license. I Google it and sure enough my home state of N.Y. in 1894 was first to institute a dog licensing
law in the country. " What a surprise "

I think they're interesting at least.

I have another Monroe County tag from 1931. I can't seem to find a photo of at the moment. Very cool, everyone!

Now I find my self pondering, did I bury my dogs with or without their tags or collars? I have not dug up a single dog take, I hope I don't ever dig one attached to the remains. I don't think I could handle that. A cat tag, no problem. But not a dog tag.
