Hey Guys, got back out and started scanning in a far section of the field

and the first thing I popped out

was a cuff button...but it had so much buildup on it I couldn't tell what it was without cleaning...so I put it

in the pouch and continued to scan, a few minutes later, I got a screamer that ended up being a Bayonet

Scabbard throat and so I started to search around that relic and popped out several bullets including an

Enfield and a odd .58 one-ring bullet next to it that is similar to a Gardner but the ring is definitely much

higher up than a normal one-ring Gardner...i've seen this bullet before but is not in my reference books.

The bullet is dropped but looks as if maybe the 'nose' of it was cut off by a soldier. After that, I got

another screamer that was locking on at +86 so I knew it was going to be something good,

when I opened it up out flew a Virginia Militia Oval Shoulder Beltplate with

the pin still attached to the back. 99% of the time, the attachment on the back is missing, so I was really

happy with that. I ended up digging some other nice relics and ended the day was the 1857 Seated

Quarter.

Got out yesterday and got a clipped Pistareen and a decent 1724 King George I halfpenny. Thanks for

looking guys

Beautiful finds Sentinel! Love the cut spanish and the fact that pin is still in tact over 150 years later! SWEET.

wow awesome finds. the catch on the plate looks like it recently broke off, like maybe when dug. any chance it's still in the hole?

You have a terrific site there. While all of the finds are noteworthy, I think that shoulder belt plate with the pin intact is something special!

Any one of those finds would make the day or maybe the year for most of us, but you got them all from one hunt which is way over the top! Congrats! :icon_thumleft:

Those Va Militia plates NEVER have the pins on them. At least mine didn't. Fantastic find.

I had to to do the manditory Christmas party at Chimas this weekend in VA.
It's kind of amazing just how many battle fields you come across just travelling to the local mall, post office, 7 eleven, just about anywhere.

Why is there a graveyard in the mall parking lot?

How cool is it to find artifacts in your own backyard.
