Those early ones are pretty hard to get, shame the letters are so degraded, I can only just see the 'S'

Had this small bronze Medieval seal the other day. It looks like a two tailed comet, a portent of change in Medieval times (not for the better).
Nice little find there Rob :icon_thumleft: some thing you don't see every day.

Hi Cru, yes hard to make out the letters. When you see how small the seal is though it's not surprising. That's a five pence piece at the side of it. Smallest seal I have ever found.

Thanks Cru, then the seal seems to be around 15mm. Not that small for a medieval seal? Most of the ones seen here are that size. Are the seals over there usually bigger?

yes, I only have two of these early 'flat circular with single loop types' - 21mm & 22mm

I have a smallish 14th C 'chest piece one' at 17mm

The only 2 I have close are a 17th C ring type at 14mm & another 17th C at 16mm

Maybe the type you find are later than his 13th C example?
