26 degrees and sunny this morning so I had to give it a try for the new year. Found a piece of ground at a soccer field that was in the sun that I could get my digger in after the first inch of frozen ground so I started detecting. There were so many quarter hits that I quit digging anything below them since the ground was like concrete. Then BAM... 91 in all directions and about the size of a pop can. I dug it anyway and wow! A 1972 Eisenhower dollar 4" down and laying perfectly flat! $9.02 worth the clad in 2 hours and I got my fix in before the 4" of snow hits tonight.

Thanks guys! I was looking for a big hole in the center. Lol With no cladding left on it at all I was sure it was going to be a giant washer, then I saw the reeded edge and thought I had something old. It's one of those head scratchers for sure when a coin of that size is in the hole.

Great find! I was lucky enough to find 2 in one month last year, but no hopes of digging here anytime soon. We have 5 inches of new snow and overnight lows forecast of -5F. Sunday we're getting rain with temps in 30's, snow on Monday again and 7F on Tuesday. We're having roller coaster temps for the next week. My last dig was New Year's Day and the ground was frozen about 2 inches deep in corn fields. Probably deeper after today's frigid temps. Hope you can get out soon again!

They sure make you gasp when you see them in the hole, don't they? I forgot to breathe for a bit, lol. Happy New Year!
