Hi all;
Had a break in the Winter weather here in Northern New Jersey.Squeezed in a short 2 hour hunt after work.Have a local site located near the former site of a colonial era general store. I have previously found my first large cent on this property. My first good hit was down about 6 inches under roots and it was another large cent- someone in the past had punched a small hole,probably to hang on a necklace - pretty toasted,but I believe it's date is 1830. Then I got a solid hit maybe 50 ft. Away and I dug up a nice 1917s Mercury dime- after rechecking my hole, uncovered a 1919 Merc,1920 Merc and a very smooth V Nickel (cannot see date) uncovered a very old nail and something made of brass- not sure what it is.Thought I had this site hunted out,but found more! I'm using my new XP-Deus (still on the learning curve) keeping my AT-pro as additional backup and water hunting. My first coin spill,very exciting!

Nice finds. I would love to find a coin spill like that.

Nice pocket dump! I had my best ones over 30 years ago that had 17 coins in it. Had Indians, Mercs, a standing liberty quarter, V nickels and the last thing out of the hole was a Barber half. I've only found 2 of those in over 30 years and one was in this pocket dump. Nice find and it's always exciting when you re check a hole after pulling out a good coin and find there's more. Last summer I pulled a seated half and after re checking the hole found there was a really nice seated quarter. Shows you should always re check your holes. Way to go!

Congrats on the silver coin spill! I get excited when there are 2 coins together! What's the oval item with holes?

I don't know what the oval thing is with holes around the edge, thought maybe it was part of an oil lamp or something. Anyone have any ideas? Finding several coins in one hole makes it all wort it! Even without that I love it.

Yes part of an oil lamp, where the wick went through.

I go back to this one fenced in area that ive hunted like a thousand times and I keep finding stuff Indians mostly and my first barber dime. I keep wondering how I missed so much, then I went out detecting in the snow (I needed my MD fix..don't judge me! lol) and swinging in the snow left trails and showed me a lot about my swing and gaps even when walking extra slow. so lesson learned and hopefully ill improve my swing and find more stuff! so if ur looking for something to do and have a foot of snow outside go check out ur swing..very helpful..HH!
