I had convinced myself that it would be months before I would be able to dust off the T2 SE for a hunt. Amazingly we've had a few days in the mid. 40s and it's rained enough recently to get rid of a lot of the snow. Most ground is still frozen but I thought maybe one of my sites would be huntable. So I hopped in my truck and headed out half expecting to be disappointed. After a short walk in to this huge site, sure enough there were spots that were clear and not frozen. I had hunted the opposite side of this huge field with a few flat buttons and a crotal bell. That side still had snow so I started swinging the other side and was happy to find 6 lead seals today. 5 were the same and one was really small and had HE on it. The others say SYNDIKAT on one side and on the other side I can only make out the last few letters of each word which are SHALL and FURT. The side with SYNDIKAT has a star on it.
Anyway it was awesome to get out today and even better to possibly have found a good new spot to hunt. All the best , Abe

That is pretty amazing to be hunting in Jan in your neck of the woods Abe. Have you been able to determine the origin of those seals?

They are German Bill, I have a few variations of the same one.

Abe, glad you got a chance to hunt, It's rare for January. I "could" have hunted today myself, The 2 feet of snow has mostly disappeared, and the gound is soft at least 4 inches worth. but sadly didn't.

6 seals in one hunt is way more than I ever got, sounds like an interesting spot for sure.

This is what the other side of those seals would look like, this is a pretty good one I found.

Nice job Abe, I'm glad you got out. I just looked at the forecast for here in south Jersey for today. Looks to be in the thirty's, I'm going but I'm not going to like it. I'm getting quite wimpy in my old age (and I'm really not that old)

Thanks guys! Yeah unfortunately they're not very old, 1920-1940. This site is a real head scratcher but I will get it figured out. My mom found me some awesome local maps of this area. One is an 1858 of this area that shows an estate close to where I found the seals but it's under the snow. It's interesting that it says estate on the map where the others just say home. She also found me an incredible 1741 map of my town. She's huge into geneology which helps my hobby from time to time. Met another guy yesterday who was scouting that area for detecting and I put him in the lead seal area and he found a couple as well. He'd only found one before so that was kinda cool. It felt great to get out. For those that can get out today, Go get em , I'll be waiting to see all of your killer finds!

Thanks guys I know it's nothing earth shattering but felt sooooo good to get out. Went to a lecture this morning about the Scottish/Irish settlers near me and learned tons of information on some incredibly early sites. I'm so wrapped up in this research it's crazy! I've had less healthy addictions in my past :-)
