I've LOST plenty of these in various casinos over the years :laughing7: but I have never found one metal detecting. I was hunting a small beach in Largo Fl when this rang up as a pull tab. It doesn't have any denomination on it so I figure it's a souvenir chip. I kept going over it and yep, shows pull tab. It surprises me that there would be metal in a chip like this.
I don't suppose I could use a Sharpie and write $1000 on it could I :sign13:

Interesting find! My guess would be that it is either a souvenir chip, or one out of a poker set. Most of the well made chips are made of clay and have weight to them, the plastic ones will sometimes have lead (or another metal) added to them to GIVE them weight. The REAL expensive ones (higher denomination/high roller) sometimes have a silver coin in the center with the casino logo. Is this one from a specific casino or is it marked the same on the other side?

DocBeav,
The reverse is the same as the front. It is a bit heavy i.e. about the same as a 50 cent piece.
Thanks for the reply.
