I finally got out for a few hours this morning. In my research (and with the weather the way it had been, I did plenty of research) I found on an old map what appeared to be a clay pit and brickyard in the mid 1700's. I tried to locate it in a large field based on the map, but I was unsuccessful. I hunted in all metal mode with no discrimination, and found very little iron, which would have been an indication of something. I did, however find this small item. It appears to be painted, and made of tin. It was bent, but I carefully unbent it without breaking it, as you can see. Is it some kind of door decoration? I do not think it is particularly old, but any ideas as to it's age?

The spot borders an old nursery, so maybe it is a metal label or tag for plants?
