Gold vain rock!, UPDATE PROBABLY PYRITE

I found what I think is a gold vein rock. Also, please tell me if it is not gold. Believe it, or not, I found it
in the gravel, next to my house's back steps. Also, that gold line goes all the way across the rock.

Update: This appears to be pyrite

It does appear from your photo that the "gold vein" is somewhat copper colored - I'm guessing you have pyrite there - Gold is
highly impervious to oxides and discoloration -

Not to be a debbie downer but I would go ahead and say it looks a lot like mica or pyrite - look at it in a magnifying glass, does it appear layered? and scratch at it with a pair of tweezers. If it flakes or breaks it's not gold.

That didn't work for me Mud, it still looked like Gold, no matter how much acid I did?

Probably took some of that weak acid. It makes everything look Tye-dyed. At least that's what I've heard.

When I clicked on the pic twice to blow it up the biggest, it appears that it is Pyrite as it has the coloring and crystal forms of such!

Does it register with a metal detector?
